Effective .

1. What we collect

Only what a guide needs. Your email address, and the answers you give in the questionnaire — where you are going, your dates, how many of you there are, how you like to travel and any notes you add. If you write to us, we have that message. If you buy, we have the order record: what you bought, when, and the email address on it.

When you sign up for our emails, we also record the country and the network provider (your internet or mobile company) the request came from, as our host, Cloudflare, reports them, and keep them with your email address. We do not save your IP address with your signup; to slow down repeated signups, our signup check keeps only a scrambled count tied to it, for at most a day. We use these only to spot automated or abusive signups.

We do not ask for your home address, your date of birth, your phone number or your card details, and we do not want them.

2. Why we have it, and what we do with it

Your questionnaire answers are the input to your guide — that is the whole reason they are collected, and it is the contract you entered when you ordered. Your email address is how the guide reaches you and how we answer you. If you asked us to keep you posted, we may email you about Local Picks Guide itself; that is consent you gave and can withdraw at any time. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not run behavioural advertising.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. There is nothing to opt out of, because we do not do it.

3. Payment

Payments are handled by Stripe. Card details go to Stripe, never to us — we never see or store a card number. What reaches us is the amount, the date, and the email address on the order.

4. Who else touches it

Our email and list platform (Brevo) stores your address and questionnaire answers so we can send your guide and reply to you. This site is hosted on Cloudflare, which sees the ordinary request information any web host sees. Each of them acts on our instructions and for no other purpose. Nobody else gets your information unless the law requires it.

5. Email and consent

Anyone joining the list confirms it from a link we email first, so an address cannot be added by somebody else. Every commercial email carries a working unsubscribe link and our postal address, as the CAN-SPAM Act requires, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. Email about a guide you actually ordered is part of delivering it.

6. How long we keep it

Questionnaire answers and the guide we built from them are kept so we can answer questions about it and rebuild it if you ask. Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Ask us to delete the rest and we do.

7. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or tell us to stop emailing you. If you are in the EU or UK you also have the right to receive it in a portable form, to object to a use, and to complain to your data protection authority. If you are in California you have the right to know, to delete, to correct, to opt out of sale or sharing (we do neither), and not to be treated differently for exercising any of them.

Write to [email protected]. There is no form and no fee, and we answer within 30 days. We may need to check that the request comes from the address we hold.

8. Cookies and tracking

This site sets no advertising cookies and runs no advertising trackers. When you sign up we record how you found us: the campaign tags on the link you followed and the name of the site that sent you, if any. The page you land on reads these and does not save them on your device. We use them only to learn which channels bring readers — nothing more.

9. Children

This is a product for adults booking their own travel. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. Tell us if it happens and we delete it.

10. Who we are

Local Picks Guide (localpicksguide.com) is operated by 202 N Cedar Ave, STE #1, Owatonna, MN 55060.

Website analytics

Pages on this site are measured with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which Cloudflare, our web host, adds to the pages it serves. It counts page views and page-load times in aggregate. Cloudflare states that it does not use cookies or local storage to collect these numbers and does not fingerprint visitors by IP address or browser details (Cloudflare), and that it does not log the query string of the address you visit (Cloudflare FAQ). It stores nothing on your device, and a content blocker can block it without breaking anything on the site.

Do Not Track

Some browsers can send a Do Not Track signal. There is no common standard for how a website should respond to it, so this site does not change what it collects when it receives one. The analytics described on this page runs either way. We do not track you across other websites or build an advertising profile of you, with or without the signal. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing for a Global Privacy Control signal to opt you out of.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we post the new version on this page and change the effective date shown at the top. That date moves only when the wording changes.
